Marathon Day – Part 2- after breakfast we were off on this adventure.
We gave Alec the small camera to take pictures of what he thought was interesting while we were there. He started with this one. Not really the nicest shot but it is us! :)
We first went to check out the butterflies and then walk around the gardens. It was about 92 degrees and 85% humidity inside and outside. The Butterfly building was manageable but outside was not so much with the sun beating down on us.
We all enjoyed the Butterfly Conservatory. To be surrounded by all those butterflies just flying around you is pretty cool and having them randomly land on you? Even cooler. To have such easy access to so many pretty butterflies- the picture taking was easy.
And now the picture montage from both cameras.
After an hour or so we left to walk through the gardens. We only walked through a quarter of the gardens because it really was oppressively hot and humid. Alec whined quite a bit doing this walking the blazing sun and heat and because we only have the only child –it was easily ignored- two or more and we might not have thought it was so funny. He walked slowly pouting behind us and complaining that he just wanted to go back to the hotel and go swimming. We heard ‘this is boring’ – a phrase he learned and really embraced recently (ugh!) –over and over. Every time he said it – we told him we were adding 5 more minutes on to our visit. He finally got the picture and stopped complaining. It was pretty funny and luckily he can’t tell time because we would have been there until 2 (and it was only 12 when we left) if we had held him to it.
He found a sprinkler to run through to ease his water woes for a few minutes and then we ‘finally’ left. :)
