After breakfast around the campfire – we all split up to go visit different places. Since we were down at this end of the island- we decided our first stop would be walk through Wonderland. (a bit of irony- I came back to read Amy's blog <--- about their walk through Wonderland on Father’s Day).
Alec was having so much fun just climbing on the rocks and playing in the tidal pools that we pretty much had to drag him away. He could have spent an entire day at this one spot. Or he was just sick of being a car… :)
And back in the car again to drive to the other part of the island for more of the park. It has been years since I have been to the top of Cadillac. We hiked to the top. Kidding…we drove. Cause that’s the way we roll.
It’s prettier than I remember.
We met up with the family at Jordan Pond House but didn’t stay. It was packed (as usual) so we headed back to the campsite to meet up with Hilary and Tom who had just arrived. They set up their “camp”. They put screens on their van’s windows-secured with duck tape no less..rolled out the futon mattress in the back and they were ready to.
Hilary said they slept like a dream in there. I’m sure they did. Do I sound bitter? Maybe. The annoying thing? Getting out the van 3 times during the night (but who was counting) and sliding the door open and closed 2 feet from my little tent. But hey…that’s camping right? ;) Maybe I am jealous we didn’t bring our van so I could have done that too!
After their camp set up we took the kids over to Seawall. Some biked, some walked and a few folks even a few took a car.
The weather was gorgeous and the scenery just lends itself to great pictures.
The remainder of our evening was spent sitting around a campfire eating and chatting.
And the next morning? We woke up all fogged in and it was rain/misting. I was ready for home and a good shower. We ate a little and broke down camp in 10.2 seconds. There was no packing…we chucked everything in the car.
See? All done vacationing. Let’s go home!
But first…
