Rick Charette

Carrie has had this Rick Charette concert on her mind for a while now so there was no way I was going to let her down.To hell with Maple Sugar donuts… Rick Charette or bust was the motto.  We dragged the kids, we dragged the husbands and we shuffle off to see the concert. And it was fun!

Todd dad was gracious enough to allow Alec to lean on him throughout a great deal of the concert. Boy they grow up fast- he is already shunning us to be with his friends. We offered to have him come sit on our laps but he wasn’t leaving Mya or even Todd dad when Mya got up to dance.

Here’s the old dude! Apparently he’s been around for a while. Erik remembers him from when he was little. And in moments of parental self-doubt I felt bad for Alec because he didn’t know any of the songs. He has seen him 2 times now and I still haven’t bought a cd. Poor kid.

As you can see we sat upfront in the mosh pit.

And the kids danced and had a blast.

I would be remiss if I didn’t get picture of cute ‘ol Faye up too!

Maple Syrup Sunday

Turns out you can go to Maple Syrup Sunday on Saturday and well I guess we should have. It was cold on Sunday and the lines were long. Although I did hear from friends that it was cold on Saturday too but possibly the lines were not as long.

This is the line to get into the sugar shack. We never made it in. What a bummer – I hear their maple donuts are amazing. But it was too cold to wait in line and we had other places to be. So we grabbed some maple popcorn and went to see the cows.

And then we were off to do something else.  What? Guess you will have to wait to see!

International Cuisine & Deering Oaks Park

Cause really –when you think of one I know you must think of the other!

I am not sure that what we ate should really be referred to as cuisine but we took Alec for Japanese last weekend. He wanted to try it with chopsticks- it didn’t work so well for him so he resorted to stabbing the food.

005

002

And, well, when  that didn’t work so well, he resorted to fingers.

007

It was still good.

Since we were in-town, ate too much  and it was a sort of springish day for Maine we headed over to Deering Oaks Park. It had an overhaul last year or the year before and we’ve been meaning to check it out.

Life and Legos

As you can ‘see’ we haven’t done much so I have no pictures of exciting adventures to share. Real life has taken over as it does sometimes. So… a little laundry (or a lot!), trips to the bank, returning the bottles, post office, taxes and grocery shopping and that’s where we are at. Mundane and dull. And sometimes that’s just fine.

Stay tuned…next weekend is a possible day trip to the “big city” (Bangor) and Sunday is Maple Syrup Sunday – I am sure something exciting will pop up!

I leave you with this…..click the link… Dispatchwork and then pick a city and check it out. How cool and fun it this?

How far we’ve come

There are moments when something happens and with great clarity I can see how much Alec has grown up.  It isn’t something momentous; it’s usually something small and would almost seem innocuous to others but as a parent it stops you dead in tracks and your heart drops and you realize how fast the time really goes. All you want to do is yell STOP THE WORLD I want extra time with my baby while he’s still a baby.

I had one of the those moments the other day. I almost ran out of Target sobbing. (no PMS comments please)

What was it?

Alec and I walked by the the vacuums.

Yep – that was it and I was mush.

Why?

It occurred to me that Alec no longer cares if we stop at the vacuums.

I’ll let that sink in for those of you who know him well.

He doesn’t care anymore.

When he was younger he knew where the vacuums were in EVERY store. (And embarrassingly all my friends houses too). If Erik and I would separate in a store- whoever did not have Alec knew to go to the vacuum section to the find the other.

He doesn’t care anymore.

Ouch.

Let’s revisit the old Alec for a moment.
