SPIDERMAN!
Look at that smile. How could I have even considered not getting him this costume?
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
The invasion has started. We have been blissfully (IMHO of course) pinball free since we moved out of our old house. They have been in storage since June 2009…bummer. In preparation for Halloween – a few have moved out of storage and into our garage. Erik’s plan is to have a couple on free play so the kids who come trick-or-treating can play a game along with getting some candy. Nice gesture.
Alec was pretty psyched to see them.
Time to finish the basement so we can park in the garage again!
It was SO warn that we spent a few hours at the beach this week. Warm is relative –right? But for the end of October in Maine….I’ll call it warm!
You are seeing that correctly- I even stuck my feet in the water!
I am eating crow right now…just so you know. You see, Way back when I was one of those people who could never see why you would want a camera on your phone…yada yada yada ..you get the point. This little feature saved the day today when I took out my camera at the beach and realized that I had forgotten to put the memory card back in it. Yeah for advances in technology and the camera on my phone!
So, the other day I posted a picture of 3 cans of pumpkin and then posted some pictures of the pumpkin chocolate chip and butterscotch chip cookies I made. I am now down to 2 cans and next up was Pumpkin Pop Tarts. Pumpkin Pop Tarts are really just little mini pumpkin pies or turnovers. But it is just much cooler to say I made pop tarts.
I even made the crust myself.
Yep- that’s a lot of butter.
My handy-dandy assistant left his cartoons to help with a little beating of eggs. He also came back to help with the filling. I swear he knows the sound of the sugar jar!
I got pretty covered with flour as I rolled out the crust and decided it was best to leave the camera far away from me and my messy ways.
Here is the end result. YUM! No need to add the maple frosting the recipe called for.
1 can to go!
We took a walk around the neighborhood the other day. It was thrilling.
They are yelling into the drain to hear their echo.
It’s the the small things…right?
No worries friends…it was down on the cul-de-sac and there was no traffic.
A walk down to the retention pond got us a few cat tails that we could play with.
Some rock climbing ensued.
A little leaf peeping..although the colors are fading. Sad.
And back home again jiggity-jig. Just a hop-skip and a jump! :)
Our Sunday outing this week was to Mount Agamenticus (say it out loud..it’s fun to say) in York. And what is south of York? Kittery! And what’s in Kittery? Shopping! Are you sensing a theme here?
We had visited here once in the summer a few years ago and it had beautiful views so we added it to our list to visit again in the fall someday. That someday was Sunday. It was cloudy and chilly so the colors were muted and not as vibrant and visually stimulating as it could have been but it was an all around enjoyable hike. We decided to drive to the top and hike around from there to ensure we made it to the top and could check out the views.
We came down Sweet Fern and walked along Ring for a while and then went back up Vultures View. Next time we go we decided are going to do RING all the way around the mountain.
Vultures View was a little steeper and so Alec needed a little help in places (not really- he just said he did) and we had to stop to rest and enjoy the view.
The hazy ridgeline is the White Mountains.
Yep! I still love Maine in the fall!
Oh, and did I mention that Kittery is the next stop south of York? Yes? Well, we made it there! Wahooo! Shopping! We went into all of 2 stores. Oddly, we were not in the outlet mood. So back in the car we got and we traveled north and thought we might try out Tradewinds Cafe in Arundel. It was featured on the Travel Channel's Man V Food . But we didn’t eat there…we had two things against us…its cash only (the $10 we had wasn’t going to cover it) and it was outdoor seating only and the rain had started. It’s on the list for next summer!
