I traveled back in time last Friday night.
22 years to the date I graduated from high school, I watched my girl, who in reality is not a girl anymore, but a bright, beautiful young woman walk across the same stage I did. Cue the sappy tears. There were some, not tons, just a few. I could say I shed them for my ‘lost youth’ but it isn’t the truth. I am pretty happy where I am now. I guess I shed a few for how far she has come. I imagine this is how I will feel when Alec graduates. So proud. You watch someone take their first steps, say their first words, first of so many things and you blink and they are getting their license and then marching to take that diploma A world or opportunities waiting. I’m ‘not the momma’ (family joke) but I’m probably just as proud. I imagine for the next few years as I watch Adam and then Hannah graduate I will feel this way again.
