Broadturn Farm

I went out to the farm alone today on my way home from work to pick up our share.  It’s official. Summer is over. Hilary’s school started today so she needed to get her classroom in order and couldn’t come.  How could summer have come and gone so quickly? It happened, like most things these days, in a blink of an eye.  You can just feel a little crispness in the air. A few leaves are falling. Soccer teams are starting practices.  I can come up with a million reasons why I am happy fall is here (#1  reason- mom and dad will visit in October) but I am not sure they outweigh the melancholy that I feel when thinking summer is over. Last year I felt like a had the best summer ever and this year I feel like I missed a lot. I don’t know why.  What does this have to do with the farm? Not sure. But I took a few extra moments out there to walk around and tried to soak up the blue sky and all the colors from the flowers.  Almost as if I could store it all up and pull it out when the winter doldrums hit.  I hope these pictures help me this winter.

I could not get enough of the sunflowers.

Look at all that good fresh food.  I went home and had this for a snack.

The calories from the Cheetos don’t count –right? Seems like they shouldn’t. I offset them with the tomatoes after all.  :)
