The first Friday of summer vacation for Alec was spent visiting Boston. Carrie and I have been talking about taking the kids on the train to Boston for about 3 years now….and it finally happened!
Alec and I got on the train in Saco….
The girls got on in Wells….it was a joyous reunion!
It was so fun to watch the kiddos in the big city. They walked it like champs.
The aquarium was our destination.
The weather was less than pleasant. It was overcast and VERY humid. And since the weather was less than pleasant the rest of the world visiting Boston decided to visit the aquarium as well. Long lines to get in. So very long. But I had 4 passes from work so that allowed up to jump in the express line. Phew!
Once in the building and after sorting out the locker situation (we had a debacle)we were off to the touch tank. We spent a lot of time at the touch tank.
We left as the aquarium was closing. 4pm on a Friday in the summer. I thought that was pretty early. But that’s ok because we made the most of our time…we saw the touch tanks a couple times, lunch in the cafe, watching a demonstration on the penguins, and also watching a show on sea lions/seals. It was a relaxing visit with no pressure to see everything…whatever we got in was good enough.
And when we left the building…sunshine! Yay!
We had an hour or so to spare before walk to the train and since the temperatures were climbing… we went over the splash pads. What an awesome transformation Boston has gone through post-big dig. So much prettier and friendlier.
I have no pictures of the rest of the adventure. The part where I push everyone along to get to the train cause I don’t want to miss it….…and then it is delayed for about an hour. Actually, it wasn’t bad…the kids and I ate ice cream..we had potty breaks….and then they tackled each other for a while. Ya know…kid stuff.
So, um yeah…that was fun. :)
And then the train came and after a resounding game of “I Spy” and a few moments of wildness…Carrie and I plied them with phone apps to keep them settled. Ahhh….grown-up talk time. Music to my ears.
What a great day!
