Another One?

I can’t even believe it.  We made it to the beach again. 2 days in a row. The planets must have aligned. That’s crazy talk for us. Going to the beach 2 days in a row…

What a difference it is having Alec babysat at home. It is so much easier to just come home. Seems obvious, I know. But the whole pick up/drop off thing really takes some time and a whole lot of energy out of a day. But to just leave work and come home. It is refreshing. It is freeing. It lends itself to getting to the beach easier.

And when it is 95% and humid in Maine..you need to go to the beach.

So we did.

Again.

Side note: Alec has a couple orange bathing suits and I LOVE them…I can find him just about anywhere on the beach in an instant. Love it! I would recommend it to everyone but then I wouldn’t be able to find him! ;)

As you can see- the ocean was calm. Flat as a pancake. Like- nothing going on there. Nada.  But it was cool and refreshing. And by cool I mean hypothermia will set in within a matter of minutes. I thought I was getting a sunburn but it was really just the fact that my legs were going to fall off from being cold.

We found Mk and CC and the kiddos spent the next 3 hours (no joke) playing in the water together.

And after a while they were actually able to balance on the boards and stay up as the waves came in.  They never actually rode the waves in though…. you know….. the true use of the board.

These 2 would never do that!

And these are the last pictures I took. See how it looks hazy but not really cloudy?  Well, within 10-15 minutes of those pictures-the skies opened up….without warning. No dark clouds…no wind….no thunder or lightening. I have never been in anything like it before. There was NO WARNING. And when I tell you it opened up – I mean IT OPENED UP. And then the wind started to blow…. and kids were down on the rocks alone. Erik ran down to get them and I was packing everything up and at one point I turned to look to see if he had them (I was pretty nervous a gust wind would send them down on the barnacles or out into the ocean)and I couldn’t even see the rocks through the rain. It was crazy!

Apparently MK was freaked out while they were on the rocks and was screaming but once she was on the beach she calmed down. Alec had a delayed reaction and his panic piqued as the rain was subsiding and he was heading to the car. He has seen too many shows about tornados. He was pretty unnerved. We really had to talk him down.

And then 3 –4 minutes later- it was over. The sun was out.

But, we could see more dark clouds heading our way and hear thunder.

And so, 3.5 hours after we got there- and 1.5 hours before we planned to leave….we headed home.

Drenched. Covered in sand. A mess.

And now it is 30 degrees colder and raining. 62% sure feels cold after 92%.

That mother nature. She sure is one fickle lady.
