Christmas I- pre-travel

As I have said before, we really toned it down this year with the festivities- and even with what we did do-Alec still thought it was a bit too much. I am not sure he even cared if he saw Santa at all. I mentioned going to the mall to see Santa and the look of distain I got told me all I needed to know. The jolly man was not getting him any where near any ‘shopping’. He is growing up way up too fast.

We decided to travel to New York to see my parents and grandmother for Christmas this year. With limited packing space (what goes with us must come back theory) we elected to celebrate our family Christmas before we left. Another reason for the pre-celebration was related to what Alec has asked for from Santa. The Nerf guns. After much discussion with Santa, he relented and allowed mom and dad to buy the coveted gift. Why should he be the hero? In light of Alec receiving the guns- we thought it was in everyone’s best interest if Alec had time to play with them here before traveling to get it out if his system. Best decision ever.

The birdies got their stocking presents:

And then we opened presents:

And the most important:

I think, no I know for sure, he was thrilled.

A goofy picture of a goofy kid. We were smart (it’s not often I can say that) and we bought 2 guns so there is an opportunity for others to protect themselves from any ambushes. And there have been many. We didn’t buy the soft darts either-those buggers hurt! I am so happy with our decision to give them to him and no Santa. We got all the props. Yay!

It was nice to have plenty of time to open each gift- examine it, talk about it and even play with it before moving on to the next. Like I said- we are slowing it all down this year and enjoying the small, important moments.
