We traveled the 23rd – I had visions of Alec watching Christmas videos and getting all excited about the holiday and Santa. I should know by now-Alec isn’t wired that way. He and Erik shunned most Christmas music, rolled their eyes when I put my Santa hat on and in general spent the 10 hours doing what they usually do…Erik searching for music and yelling out the artist/band and Alec watching The Jetsons or Yogi Bear.
As this was the 3rd car trip we have taken in 10 weeks- we have our routines nailed down and we were exceptionally thrilled to be out of the car!
We spent the 24th relaxing, visiting and getting some things ready for the big day. Alec prepared the sidewalk.(?!)
We had Christmas eve dinner take out style sitting around the living room- nothing fancy- just talking about things we were thankful for (doing an Opotkey?) and enjoying the stories of what Christmas eve was like for my mother when she was younger and living in this house. It was my first Christmas spent there and the first one my mother has spent there in 40 plus years.
After dinner I dragged Alec and Erik out of the house so we could drive around to see Christmas lights. My dad came too but he was a willing participant. They were significantly less grumpy about it once they saw the displays.
Everyone enjoyed the ride and then it was home for other traditions. Time for reindeer dust!
A couple selfies…don’t know what’s up with my Santa hat but whatevs…..nothing is prefect including my pictures!
A picture of my mom with the YWS (yucky white stuff). She HATES snow.
Then to open the traditional Christmas eve jammies from Aunt Pam:
Pictures in new jammies in front of the tree:
And a snack put out for Santa….yes- right next to the front door and Alec’s shoes. Cookies, goldfish and jelly beans. Mmmmmmm-right?
And off to bed to wait to see if Santa finds us in New York!
