Upon waking at the leisurely hour of 5:45 (groan)-we spent some time playing Netflix on my phone for Alec so Erik and I could try and fall back asleep. No such luck.
Why, yes, that is the sun rising over the Charles River. Beautiful eh? It was better in person. I’ll let you take Alec next time you go so he can be sure you won’t miss it! And once the sun had risen we headed down to the pool. Bless the person who set the pool hours early. Bless them with all my heart. We were swimming at 7:30AM.
Funny, we were not the only family there so early! And Debbie- he loves his “team suit”. It is all he will wear now. However, he still refuses to wear goggles and therefore does not want to swim with his face in the water. This is going to be a long battle.
Back up to the room for showers and breakfast. When asked a few days later what his favorite part of the trip was- his answer #1 swimming in the pool & #2- the shower in the hotel. Seriously. (He even told a teacher that!) Not the museum. Not the pastries in the North End. Not the train ride. Nope pool and shower. I personally didn’t think it was that great of a shower but maybe is he is a developing shower connoisseur. Had I known it was his favorite- I would have taken a picture of it for him –so he could remember it. :)
We did spend some time watching the rowers. Always a nostalgic sight.
A jaunt into the North End for Mike’s. They were not as good as they have been in the past. We may have to cross them off our list.
More walking through the giant farmers market. Alec complained about his feet hurting a lot during this trip. I thought he was just being a whiney 5 year old. Ummm..turns out the sneaks might be too small. So while we were at Quincy Market- we popped into the Croc store to see if there were any on sale since he had just outgrown his last pair. We got him the orange ones seen below for $4 (can you guess why they were only $4?!). He changed immediately and we didn’t hear another complaint from him.
Both the Bruins and Celtics were in town and were playing on Saturday. We tried to get crappy cheap seats for the Bruins but it was a no-go. Alec got some big crocodile tears. He has been dying to go see “the highest level of hockey”.
And then home again, home again jiggity jig.
