Cascade Falls

Alec and I were killing a little time the other day driving around (not a very interesting story) and we drove past Cascade Falls. Cascade Falls is on the Cascade Road in Saco. Erik and I spent 9 years and 10 months living about a mile away from this area. We visited it probably month 1 and then never again.  At the time we visited it – there were paths but it was on private land. Mostly lots of people went to this area to fish and drink beer. It was not well kept. A few years ago, as part of a urban development package- the land was donated to the city of Saco.  Part of the deal was that the developers create a parking area and make some improvements/upgrades in the trails before they turned it over. At this point it has been turned over and it is looking good. Not all the trails have been upgraded yet but it has a good start.

His expression when he saw the falls was so sweet. He couldn’t believe there is a waterfall in Saco. This might have quenched his thirst for waterfalls and buy us some time.  He has been asking us to take him back to Niagara Falls weekly for months.  Out annual trip to western New York can not come soon enough for Alec.

I took a bazillion pictures but I don’t think any of them do it justice.

Alec thinks this might top Ferry Beach State Park as a new favorite place.
