FRIGHT NIGHT @ THE Y
Although our YMCA puts on a Fright Night the week before Halloween every year – this is the first time we have decided to partake in the festivities. There were tons of people and it was pretty chilly but we still had a decent time. The bonus for Alec was that a lot of the staff from his childcare facility were working at this event so there were lots of friendly faces to greet.
They had a hayride (which broke down before we got to go for a ride on it), games, a bonfire (fire pit), trunk-or treating (businesses set up in the parking lot and decorated their vehicle trunks and handed out candy…odd), crafts, and a haunted walk through the woods (we passed on that).
Playing games (below)
Roasting marshmallows…or rather Erik charring the marshmallow.
A thoroughly thrilled spidey.
Spooooky!
School Party
The Friday before Halloween weekend Alec’s school had a party. Actually they had 2 on 1 day. They dressed up in the morning and paraded to a local business to trick-or-treat through the office. Erik and I could not make it to that but we did make it to the afternoon party. I made ghost cupcakes for the afternoon party.I was frosting at 9:30 at night. I did not do such a good job.
And here is the few pictures I took of the party. It was pretty unorganized. My work was having a kids party at the same time. I think next year we will skip the school party and take him to my work one. That looked REALLY cool! One department dressed up and decorated their area after the game Candyland. It was VERY cool.
Isis and Alec play together a lot. They both turned around at the same time. The stinkers.
Crashing from the sugar high. Good thing swimming lessons were next. He needed to balance the equilibrium and get past the fun day letdown.
Prepping for Halloween
Painting pumpkins. Now the funniest part of this was that we did not use washable paints. Erik could not relax enough to have fun. He was tweaked the whole time worrying about where the paint would end up. On my end…pretty funny. His quote “I don’t do messy crafts”. So instead of focusing on Alec we will focus on Erik. Notice his hands clasp together. Feel free to chuckle with me.
CARVING THE PUMPKIN
This is the first time we actually carved a pumpkin with Alec. He was not so thrilled with the insides. Chuckling again….Look at that expression!
Erik continued to clean it out. Erik’s dad oversaw the process and Alec played.
We went all out and saved the seeds to cook. We are wild and crazy here!
I carved the pumpkin. There are no pictures of that. But here is the final product. It was Alec’s request. He’s not egocentric. AT.ALL.

Trick-Or-Treat Time
Alec and Auntie Hil on our way to Knox’s house!
Kiddo’s ready for the sweets! The crazy part was –we didn’t ask them to sit like that. They did it all on their own!
And they are off….
And that my friends is the end of Halloween until next year. Phew!
