Being sick for your birthday party.
We had a pretty busy birthday day for Alec so we celebrated his birthday with family the day after his birthday.
Unfortunately it didn’t turn out so well for him.
Alec came home from school saying his stomach hurt. I didn’t really listen that closely to him. Kids just say things sometimes and besides – I was getting ready for a party. His party. Unfortunately for me-Alec doesn’t usually complain about being sick unless he is.
Guess what? He was.
Except that we didn’t know that when he was bouncing.
Until he got out and puked. (no I didn’t take pictures). We got him cleaned up and kind of passed it off as too much food before bouncing or too much heat on our first really hot day of summer.
We didn’t let him bounce again.
Instead we did other things like torture little boys by taking their picture.
This is what it took to get 3 boys to smile at the same time for 1 picture.
There was cake:
There was blowing out of the candles by the boy who puked. Not smartest choice in hindsight. Since my hindsight also knows that he will puke again in the future. Fastest way to spread germs? Blow on food everyone will eat.
Warning signs were there: he ate nothing for lunch or dinner. He walked away from the cake with not even so much as a lick of frosting. He kept just laying around and was lethargic (for him).
We moved on to opening presents:
As Noelle said ‘You know your kid is sick when he lets other kids open his presents’. And he did. And he let me help too.
Almost done unwrapping presents – he left the room and went into his bedroom. And puked and puked and puked. Thankfully I had followed him and had a towel waiting.
My poor baby boy.
On a brighter note – there were plenty of family here to celebrate (hopefully we didn’t get them sick).
The birthday party kind of came to an abrupt end when Alec puked again. Nothing kills a party like a puker.
And since no one likes to end a blog with puke….here are some pictures of the morning before it all went downhill.
And after school (although he said his tummy was hurting then).
Puking aside – I think he had a pretty decent day after his birthday.
