Weekly Reader
We spent Friday afternoon at the library picking out some books for the weekend. Well, I picked out books. Alec watched a few friends he knew play a racing game on their school iPads (don’t get me started!). And then I chatted with the librarian for a while. She pulled out all these old records they have there and we were going through them telling stories of songs we remembered. I love my library – I tell ya!
I found more Amelia Bedilia. Who knew there were so many books? Not me that’s for sure!
Can you guess which ones Alec picked out? We are a mere 25 books away from the 300 goal. This should help us get there really quickly. Phew!

Halloween
It was a busy day. A cold, wet busy day.
Lucky for Alec-he had an appointment that day that required him to get out of school early.
Lucky for Erik- he got to take him.
Lucky for me- I didn’t have to –I got to stay at work and get ready for the annual Halloween party. Consider us all lucky- for the first time we got to spend the afternoon wandering around my work party together as a family. As I have said in years past- pictures do not do it justice. It is always a great morale booster and such a great family friendly event.
After Alec’s loot bag was completely filled we raced home. Literally. Alec came with me and kept asking me to catch up to dad and pass him. No can do little buddy. Dad is a crazy driver!
Once home we lit the pumpkins and took the obligatory pictures.
Off they went….
They were out in that crazy wet weather for 2.5 hours. They hit up every nook and cranny of our neighborhood plus some. It’s wasn’t for the loot so much as the sport of it. Alec wanted to hit every house that had it’s light on and Erik was willing to oblige. All I can say is that it is a good thing Alec chose Erik to go with him and not me. :) Plus I got to have a visit from a very cute chipmunk! Alec was so sad he missed seeing her.
The loot:
Oh joy. Bring on the sugar highs and the crashes that follow. This should be fun. Not.

30 (give or take a few) days from my phone
This should be interesting (kidding)
From September –fall pictures
soccer practice (green trees and cool clouds)
the farm when it was still blooming and green…
Alec and his pigs….
I love the staircase at Dyer library. And a very cool path at the local garden nursery.
Blurry but love the snuggles with Linda.
Within moments are the training wheels coming off.
Applebees with Nana
the new playground at Burns
Shuffling off to Olean…
more sunset pictures
Katie reading to Alec in the hotel room.
crazy kids on the road…I seriously LOVE this picture of the 3 of us. It is just about perfect!
A tradition when we are in Olean. The Beef. Good times having a girls lunch.
Other goofy times (Alec has creepy eyes in one of them)
My bedmate during the trip. He pretty much spent every night in the middle of the bed. He had the gal to say to me one night “this is hard for me – I am not use to sharing a bed. This should be easy for you – you do it every night”. Yes child but it’s a king size bed and your father stays on his own side. I tried putting up the pillow wall but he told me it was in his way. No kidding kid…that’s the point.
The way home…. True fact- I tried to get this picture of Katie but she moved so I made her reenact it. It’s a nice picture. I like it. The other one? Meh…
More minutia:
Aunt Pam gave us a bunch of hand-me-down blocks. Alec loves them. Erik is cursing her. There are a crap-ton of them and they are currently all over my living room floor. There are even more at GG’s house that didn’t fit in the car. Can you hear Erik groaning from where you are?
Not sure…maybe fall colors?
Because closed was too hard to say? Same amount of spaces used. Is this the trendy thing now?
Swimming lessons
The bathroom is finally blue.
Pumpkin Valley Farm
Snuggling in after a chilly afternoon at pumpkin valley farm. The cat was psyched to have someone to snuggle with.
And it continues…. Alec learned how to play checkers….
A build a bear for hitting his “reading out loud” goal.
Scary!
Medal for the kids run at the Halloween Spooky Run and Erik’s results.
Just cause he’s cute.
And last but not least….Erik ordered the 2lb taco at Margaritas. And yes, he ate it all!
And that’s the end of the small stuff that is our happy little lives in snapshots.
