the grandparents and child will play.
Here are a few highlights from around the house while Erik and I were away.
It looks they had a good time!

Can you hear the crickets chirping?
It’s a little quiet on the blog.
I thought I had posts for a week….but I guess I didn’t.
Why?
Cause we are on vacation.
On vacation and no pictures of Alec?
Yep!
It’s an adult only vacation.
What’s that you ask? (I know – I didn’t know either)
What? Leave my kid at home for a week? But he’d love this. Leave him at home? Seriously?
Seriously.
An adult only vacation in the second best thing in the world.
What’s the first?
Being a parent, of course.
I suggested to my mom that she be the guest blogger while we were gone.
She thought maybe keeping track of the busy schedule of the PreK kiddo was enough.
I wasn’t about to disagree with that since she and my dad were kind enough to fly up to Maine in March (yuck!) and watch Alec so Erik and I could could meet up with Todd and Angie for a vacation in the exciting, tantalizing, hot spot of ….
wait for it…..
Williamsburg, VA.
Yep. Nothing screams you are old like celebrating the big 4-0 in Williamsburg,VA.
Williamsburg? Like like touring history spots? Not exciting nightlife or tropical beaches?
Yep.
Todd and Angie have a friend who gifted us points to their timeshare and this is where we landed. And in the true sense of our friendship…it doesn’t matter where we are….we always manage to have fun.
And we have. Like even the ‘I can’t share those pictures’ kind of fun. This is a family blog after all.
But I can share these:
Alec was playing in the front yard and the other day and came running up to us with this.
Yes- that is a part of a tortilla.
It is not his.
He wanted to know if it was compostable.
I want to know where it came from.
And why?
Do you think the birds are on the Atkins diet?
Another afternoon spent doing a little baking. We had tons of packages of M&Ms leftover from Halloween so in the spirit of generosity we decided to spare the kids next year of stale candy- we opened them all up and decided to make M&M cookies.
Made with love…quickly devoured.
Alec thinks it is warm enough for this:
Grump does not necessarily agree.
Those Floridians just can’t appreciate spring the way us Mainers do!
As a side story…Grump asked Alec if he could finish Alec’s bagel. Alec said “sure you can…you’re old…you need the fiber”.
Love that kid!
There is something about finger paints that just makes me happy.
Something about the way you have permission to get messy, blend the colors, go out of your box and smoosh it all around.
Or it could be that it makes Erik twitch non-stop.
Either way.
Finger paints = happiness.
