Meet Marshall

The Fays are in-town from Italy and we have had the chance to see them several times.  Last time we saw Heather –she was about 14 weeks along in this post. And now…here’s Marshall 5 months old. How cute is he? And what a good baby he is! He really only fussed when Alec was a little over-stimulating to him. And well-who could blame him? It happens to us all the time with Alec.

018

My baby looks so big!

003

005

011

We got to visit with them at the lake house too! Alec really loves babies. It warms my heart.

077

And then Jack came to town and they asked me to spend a little time with them taking family pictures at Portland Headlight. Hmmm..how could I pass this up? Some favorite people and a favorite place. No question!

014

025

030

051

A few days later we went out for Thai (Jack and his girly drink with an umbrella).

064

Then we hit downtown OOB (1st time this summer!) sans the children.  In the past that would have meant bar hopping. Now it means walking around –making fun of the French Canadian beachwear and having ice cream. We are still cool.

070

o.k. maybe only Heather thinks she is. I mean come on – we were driving around in a minivan –what’s not cool about that? They call it our ‘living room on wheels’.

073

081

We then introduced them to fried Oreos.  There is something SO wrong with a deep fried cookie that it makes it right.

090

And the result is….

093

What a great night.

That’s the thing about summer. People come to visit.

I love that.

But then you have to say good bye.

Seems like we have been doing a lot of that too.

I hate that.

THAT makes me lonely.

And sad.

Family Reunion

98% of the people who look at this blog were at the reunion so I will spare too many details. Here are the highlights:

We had a professional photographer come and take pictures.  Here is a link to the photos in you are so inclined.

FYI:  The older lady – she’s my grandma – she is 98. The folks in blue- they are her children and spouses. Red are the grandkids  (age span of late 50’s to 22). Green- the great grandkids (age span of 30’s to 4) Yellow- the great great grandkids.

Kind of cool-eh?

This is where we had it:

136

In past reunions the merry-go-round has played an integral part in the reunion. A rite-of –passage, if you will, for some.  It’s called spin them till they puke. Yes, you read that right. Strong gene pool here- huh? Enough said.

And here are few candid shot s from the day.

CSA Week 7

It’s getting interesting now!

099

We missed weeks 4 and 5 due to travels but word from Hilary was that the harvest was just as plentiful.

Here is this week’s list.

Summer Squash

Zucchini

Patty Pan Squash

Garlic

Lettuce

Beets

Chard

Sugar Snap Peas

Cilantro

Radicchio

They had extra zucchini and a few cucumbers on the ‘share’ table so we snatched those up!

And now a few pictures from the farm:

Flowers on the farm.

The peas are so sweet and awesome. They flash me back to my younger years..much younger years  to the backyard of my childhood home and my dad’s garden. Hungry? Go pick the peas right off the vine. Hungry? Go get a cuke from the garden and wash it off with the hose.

And  then there was zucchini cake, zucchini cookies, zucchini bread, stuff zucchini etc.

Maybe I am not so fond of those memories.

The farm share is a slice of my childhood memories without all the fuss.

The owner of the farm always signs off on her blog with the phrase ‘Blessings on the Table’.

I love it.

4th of July

In the morning, while everyone was still sleeping, Alec and I snuck out of the house to take a walk and watch the Bridgton 4 miler.

138

142

144

Waiting for the runners. We knew no one running it but everyone needs a cheerleader sometimes. We all made a decision at the house that if we rent this same house again next year- we are all signing up! To clarify, some of us made the decision for others. ;) There were some fast runners- the top 2 of the top 3 male finishers had cut off jean shorts. And they were still super fast!

148

After the road race we walked home and hung around for a while and then walked back into town to watch the parade. It was noon –too hot!

And during:

We spent the rest of the day hanging around in the water and bbq’ing.  At night we drove into Naples for the fireworks. Here is a group shot:

Maybe this a better shot?

They were great fireworks. Alec fell asleep about halfway through them. Vacationing is hard work!
