Go fly a kite

Sunday landed us torrential rains and strong winds in the morning and sunny skies and light breezes in the afternoon. Our lazy morning turned into a lazy afternoon. Too much laziness usually ends up with one of us feeling edgy and borderline cranky. We take turns with this edginess and sometimes folks might get a little snappy.  And so it was.  At some point I believe the phrase GO FLY A KITE was used.

And so we did.

And the day turned around. We spent hours down at the beach. I think the beach creates a Zen type calm in our family where the planets seem to align and issues melt away.  We sync up.

The waves were amazing.

And the surfers were out!

Healthy Kids Day

Alec and I ventured out Saturday for the Y’s healthy kids day. We didn’t stay too long but we did manage to have some fun.

We visited the fire truck 2 times.

This better be the only time he sits in the back of a police car!

We saw a lot of the teachers from Alec’s school.  This is Miss Erica- she is helping Alec paint with fruits and veggies. Not sure how this counts as teaching him to be healthy but it was a fun activity. I foresee him trying to convince me at dinner that he should be able to paint with his veggies not eat them. Ugh!

I’m not sure we will be any healthier for attending but it was a great way to kill some time while Erik busy!

What to do?

It’s a beautiful spring Tuesday night and dad’s working late…what’s a mom and son to do?  How about a Tuesday night special of a $2.50 small cheese pizza from the local House of Pizza and a trip to the park?

It was perfect!

Soon I will address the construction suit vest in every picture I have taken recently. Let’s just let the giant elephant in the room rest for a while.  It’s just a phase right?

Last of the Florida Pic’s

Although we are home now I thought I’d share the last of out Florida pictures. We had a fabulous time enjoying the sunshine – vitamin D and warmth are wonderful things for the soul…add in  beautiful green and lush foliage and parental love and that sums up our vacation.  We are missing all of it already.  Although after talking with my mother several times since we have been back… I am sure they don’t miss us as much as we miss them. She sounds like we exhausted her!

So here goes the montage….

Not sure the golfer knows the gator is there.  I also had the horror/fascination of watching said gator hunt and munch a turtle.  Yowza.

We took a walk one evening to feed the turtles….

And the gator thought he’d come along…see him? 

The birds joined in the feeding…. (we stopped feeding once the gator joined us)

and the sun was setting…

It was a beautiful evening.

We enjoyed some time hanging around my parent’s house. This included going through old pictures – there were quite a few that I SO wanted to scan but ran out of time.  Alec also helped grandma decorate for for Easter.

We went swimming some more…how do I know that these aren’t pictures from the other day? Check out Alec’s bathing suit…pretty much a different one each day thanks to Nana (Erik’s mom)!

We went to the park one evening after getting some ice cream…I love a playground with ocean views.
