I thought this day would never come!

For as long as Alec has been alive he has been fascinated with Shania. His first word was ‘kitty’. He has tried many things over the years to make her like him.  As soon as he started walking, he would bring her ‘gifts’ as a peace offering. Usually he would give her whatever he could find laying around (boots, shoes, goggles).

It wasn’t working…..he just couldn’t get close.

006

So he tried more.

001

He got a little closer.

001

Sometimes there was a glimmer of hope they could be friends…

005

And as he got older he continued with the gifts…

004

And then he upped the ante with even more gifts…

043

And continued the gift giving trend in the new house…..

001

And finally …….SUCCESS!

Life’s a Beach

One hot, humid, oppressive evening, a few days ago, we decided to forego cooking and have dinner at the beach with Courtney, Noel and Leo.  We had some Chinese in the square (they have the best beef teriyaki) and did a little people watching. I think there was only 1 speedo sighting. Thankfully I didn’t get a picture of that!

The boys got a little bored and decided to dance around.

038

They stopped for a little downward dog. I’m not really sure where that came from!

They other day Alec told me he and Leo were twins- that the were the same and that they looked alike and that he (Alec) had curly hair. Umm….yeah.

Not sure what mirror he was looking in!

078

Of course we took them on a few rides too!

Holiday Inn

Alec was totally psyched to stay in the hotel on our way home and when he found out that the hotel had a pool he was over the top excited. He walked across the parking lot rolling his suitcase singing ‘I’m staying in a hotel…I’m staying in hotel”.

Dancing his way to the pool.

Alec spent most of his time jumping from side to side...there were a few misses where he went under. Thankfully his weekly swim sessions with daycare have lessoned his aversion to going under.  He still doesn’t enjoy it but now knows to keep his mouth shut…..when he can remember!

So very sad when we told him that it was bedtime.

Ahhh…bedtime!

Niagara Falls

We left Olean and took a side trip up to Niagara Falls on our way home. Alec thought the falls were cool. His reaction was an understated and very dry “That’s a lot of water”.  Erik and I got a good laugh out of that. He enjoyed watching the different Maid of the Mist boats go ‘under’ the falls.  The biggest reaction we got was when we stopped at the hotel (or toe-hel as Alec use to call them) and he asked if there was a pool. He was ecstatic and practically danced his way down to it. Guess we could skipped one of the wonders of the world and gone straight to Holiday Inn!

We had a great day just walking around the falls, having some ice cream, people watching and relaxing.

Olean – Part 5 - Portville

Another afternoon we took a drive to Portville. Our final destination was a playground that went along the creek (or in western New York speak “crick”).

Again my dad and I managed to take a gazillion pictures so I will narrow it down to the better few.

A great smile.

Olean –Part 4 –Franchot Park

As a little outing to give GG and Grandma time to rest and to give the boy (and the men) an outlet for their energy we took a trip across Olean to Franchot park for a little fun in the sun.

106

It had a playground that Alec spent all of 1 minute on.

062

2 minutes on the swing

065

About 20 minutes on the “fire engine” with the very friendly “fire cat”.

068

His firemen(and the cat at his feet)

093

3 minutes on the dyke….

098

And about an hour in the wading pool. We all had a blast just playing around and being goofy.

191

My dad and I had a good time playing with the camera. We took over 200 pictures. I tried to narrow it down on here to the ones I think are pretty fun.
