A little journey

Debbie, Alec and I shuffled back to Olean in early October. It was a pretty and very typical long ride.

We went for several reasons….biggest on Debbie’s mind? Seeing her college girl. But first a quick stop to say hi to GG…

and then we were off again to go find the girl…

In this picture Alec is chatting on my mom’s cell phone with Grump (who was still in Florida).  The moment he spotted Katie – he handed off the phone without saying good bye and took off running…

I think Debbie wanted to do the same thing but thought Katie might frown upon that…..but momma sure looks happy huh?

We checked out her room (she has a single….lucky girl!)

After checking her room out- Grandma, Alec and I went back to GG’s house to play and visit.  Debbie, Katie and a friend of Katie’s went to dinner. But this was not the end of our college visit….a few days later we came back to campus with the Simmons family for a little tour. This enabled us to further describe what college is to Alec. He hasn’t quite grasped the concept. The proud momma moment…when he had to see the pool. He could smell it and therefore wanted to lay eyes on it. Yep…that’s my boy.

 

 

      

  Pretty campus huh? It so nice to see her so happy in her school choice and having such a good time.

Fall Apple Picking

Fall apple picking…I wrote that and then thought –is there really any other kind of apple picking? It is always in the fall.

D’oh. I am in trouble here.

I guess I am just struggling with how fast the season came upon us and how fast it is flying by.  I keep thinking it is early September and then I look at the calendar and go hmmmm..guess I missed a few weeks there! How is it mid-October and we haven’t taken any of our usual walks in the woods? Goodness- we haven’t even been to Ferry Beach State Park since spring! How is this possible?  I can’t decide if I am becoming a lame parent or if we really are just that busy with other stuff.

Where is this time going? I am certainly not spending it blogging these days either. :)

I digress…

Back to the apple picking pictures….from September. We went to our usual spot..Doles in Limington. I do love it there- love the views and the choices of things to pick. We went with apples and plums. We were going to do raspberries too but we had just bought some the day before. We (Erik and I) were not in-jive with this apple picking adventure…we just didn’t gel. It happens with us sometimes. We just kind of wandered around at first trying to figure out what apples we wanted and where they were. We opted with the hayride first to see where the apples we want were…

So many choices….

And we set off to pick…

After all the healthy apple picking, we engaged in another fun activity. Eating the homemade whoopie pies!

Did I tell you?

I am going to be an Auntie again? No? Yep…back in May we found out …

And now….it’s almost time!

Today we showered Hilary (and Tom) with all sorts of fun baby paraphernalia and lots of love. 

It was a beautiful shower in a beautiful location. (Of course I think so. The shower was at Joseph’s.)

We had lots of little touches to make the special day a beautiful one. We placed a children’s book on each table and asked the guests sitting at the table to sign the books with a little message to Hilary, Tom and Baby Girl. Much better than a guest book! And the boo-boo bunnies were oh-so-cute on the tables. The baby pictures of Hilary and Tom placed throughout added just the right extra touch.
